On September 16, 2025, the Russian House in Brussels held the festive opening of the 2025–2026 season. The central event of the evening was the concert “Tchaikovsky: Reflection in Sound”, dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the great Russian composer’s birth.

The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Belgium, D.V. Gonchar, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. In his remarks, he emphasized the timeless significance of Russian culture, which has given the world a constellation of outstanding figures—writers, poets, composers—and continues to bring people together.

“Cultural events like this remind us that art must remain a space for dialogue, free from political disagreements,” the head of the diplomatic mission underlined.

As part of the evening, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Belgium, together with the Director of the Russian House, Vera Bunina, presented the medal “For Love and Fidelity” to a couple who had celebrated more than half a century of shared life.

The musical program featured two works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: the poetic “Meditation,” Op. 72, and the large-scale Grand Sonata in G major, Op. 37. They were performed by Professor Timur Sergeyenia of the Higher School of Arts, whose mastery and deep interpretation resonated warmly with the audience.

The concert concluded with thunderous applause. In response to the ovations, Timur Sergeyenia performed as an encore Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Musical Moment, Op. 16 No. 6, a touching finale that sparked renewed, prolonged applause.

The festive program also ended with the finissage of the compatriots’ art exhibition “Summer Kaleidoscope – 2025. Holidays in Russia”, which added a special atmosphere of unity between music and painting.

The opening of the season at the Russian House became not only a tribute to Tchaikovsky but also a significant cultural event, uniting lyricism, romanticism, and the philosophical depth of Russian music.
