On May 20, the Russian House hosted a themed picnic for learners of the Russian language dedicated to the traditions of Russian cuisine.
At the beginning of the event, participants were offered an interactive brochure with tasks related to Russian cuisine and culture. While completing the activities, guests became acquainted with Russian proverbs, traditional dishes, and recipes, while also practicing Russian through communication and group discussion.
As part of a lecture on the development of Russian cuisine and the influence of Orthodox traditions on the formation of Russia’s gastronomic culture, the opening of the Russian Geographical Society photo exhibition “Cultural Heritage of Russia” also took place. The exhibition was dedicated to the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture. Participants viewed photographs of cultural heritage sites from different regions of Russia, including the Naryn-Kala citadel in the Republic of Dagestan, the Oreshek Fortress in the Leningrad Region, the ancient Christian Shoana Church in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, and other historical and cultural landmarks of the peoples of Russia.
The evening concluded with a tasting of sausages and potatoes cooked over a campfire, as well as traditional desserts from different countries prepared especially for the event by the participants themselves.
