The most valuable thing we can do now is to preserve the memory of those who selflessly defended their homeland and gave us, their descendants, the right to life...

On the eve of May 9, memorial ceremonies were held at the graves and monuments of soldiers in Belgium: in the communes of Brussels Ever and Ixelles, the cities of Genk, Lanklaar, etc.
The St. George Ribbon events were held - a symbol of memory and heroism, which has become an inseparable part of the culture and traditions of Russia, the Candle of Memory - an international event whose participants annually light candles on memorable days in honor of 27 million who died in the Great Patriotic War. More than a hundred candles were lit in our hall during the festive concert on May 10th. And the red carnations that you see in the photographs symbolize the resilience, endurance and courage of the heroes!
The «Garden of Memory» ... for the first time in Belgium, it was founded in 2021 next to the Trois-Ponts memorial cemetery, where the burial place of the Russian partisan Ivan Kulkov is located. Planted two bushes of white terry lilac, as a symbol of Victory, are blooming to this day! It was with lilac branches in their hands that in May 1945 they met Soviet soldiers-liberators returning home!
We continue to honor this tradition and already this year 2023, on May 11, three more flowering bushes were planted on the territory of the embassy, the variety of which (symbolically for us) was bred in Russia!
Well, we will tell you about how touching and sincere the Musical and Poetry Evening “Living Memory of Past Years” was in the next post! And we will be glad for your feedback and marks on the photos in our center!

В годы Великой отечественной войны гитлеровцы вывозили советских военнопленных в концентрационные лагеря на территории оккупированной Бельгии, где они работали на угольных и железных шахтах Валлонии и на оружейных заводах Льежа.

Многие из них бежали из плена и присоединялись к отрядам Сопротивления продолжая свою борьбу в глубоком тылу фашисткой Германии. По всей территории Бельгии похоронены свыше 300 советских военных. По оценкам историков, в рядах бельгийского Сопротивления сражалось не менее полутора тысяч наших солдат и офицеров – бывших военнопленных, продолживших борьбу с нацизмом на бельгийской земле.

Однако точной цифры не знает никто, как и многих имен этих героев. Наш вклад в дело Бессмертного полка - рассказать о тех, кто нам известен!

Отдадим дать памяти и уважения и выходцам из среды «белой» эмиграции, вставшим на путь борьбы с нацизмом – прежде всего «бельгийской Жанне д’Арк» Марине Шафровой, казненной по личному распоряжению Гитлера. И, конечно, бельгийцам, сражавшимся в рядах Сопротивления в Арденнах, Лимбурге, под Льежем и Намюром...

Today, Orthodox people celebrate the main Christian holiday in memory of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ and his miraculous resurrection. Why is it customary to paint and beat eggs on this day, and also eat Easter cakes?

One of the symbols of Easter is chicken eggs. They are painted in different colors, painted with patterns, decorated with ribbons. But the red egg is considered traditional. According to one of the legends, Mary Magdalene, along with the news of the resurrection of Christ, presented the emperor Tiberius with an egg. Since ancient times, man has taken steps towards the study of space distances. Before the scientific and technological achievements of the 20th century, the possibility of flying into space was only a picture from science fiction films, but the development of the space industry and the huge contribution of Soviet scientists helped make this a reality.

62 years ago, on April 12, 1961, Soviet pilot-cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin opened a new page in the history of mankind by flying into space on the Vostok satellite. The course of the tests was controlled by Sergei Korolev, Leonid Voskresensky and Anatoly Kirillov. The flight lasted 108 minutes, during which the ship made a free flight around the planet and successfully landed at the appointed place - near the village of Smelovka in the Saratov region.

Gagarin stepped off the ship as one of the most famous people of the century.
In Russia, Cosmonautics Day is celebrated on a grand scale - Gagarin's flight remains a national treasure and pride in the achievements of Russian science. The heroes of the occasion are cosmonauts, engineers, designers, test pilots, graduates and teachers of specialized universities.

region.

You should start your trip from the national park "Russky Sever". There is a mountain
Maura, 180 meters high, at the top of which there is a small chapel and a stone with a
human footprint. There is a local legend that the footprint belongs to St. Kirill.
It is not possible to walk in all parts of the reserve, but there are guesthouses, hunting
and fishing bases, and children's camps in the permitted territory. In addition, there you can swim in the clear Siversky lake.

In the park you can visit Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, once the largest fortress in the
northwest of the Russian state. It is the monastery that owes its name to the city. In

💦Kucherlinskoye is one of the most picturesque lakes in the Altai. The name is based on the local word "kuchurlu", which means solonchak (a type of soil with high salt content).

The water in the lake has an unusual turquoise color, and it is surrounded by steep rocky cliffs. There are Upper, Lower and Big Kucherla Lakes. The Big lake is 5 km long. The water body has a legend - its master is the spirit Kol-Eezi, who lives in the water
and loves solitude. To chase away travelers, the spirit scares them with a bull's cry.

In addition, there are many species of underwater inhabitants.The lakes are inhabited
by rainbow trout, grayling (is a sign of clean water), taimen and other fish species. And near the lakes you can meet walking horses.

🏕Interestingly, to get to the lake is difficult - most of the way you have to climb uphill. Usually the hike takes from 2 to 3 days.

🏕Интересно, что добраться до озера сложно — больший отрезок пути приходится подниматься в гору. Обычно поход занимает от 2 до 3-х дней.

The meetings of the holidays were called Komoyeditsa, and the beginning of this compound word came from the ancient Slavs of the bear.

“Kom”, that is, a bear, woke up at this time, and people wanted to appease the beast that had departed from its winter sleep. After all, he is the owner of honey, and for the ancient Russians this delicacy is a source of health and strength. Dedicated to the holiday, it was called Komoyeditsa.

An interesting fact: when they say that the first pancake is lumpy, then this is wrong. The first round and magnificent symbol of Maslenitsa was served by «komAm», that is, an excuse for bears to appease them.

However, it was not easy to make a cake - this recipe did not work on a large volume. In 1978, the confectioners nevertheless succeeded, and the first patent for cakes in the USSR was issued to Bird's Milk.

❓🍯"Imperial cake" - that's what the people call honey cake. The wife of Alexander I did not tolerate honey. However, the new chef did not know the rules and prepared a dessert that resembled soft caramel. When Elizaveta Alekseevna wanted to know what the cake was made of, the chef admitted that honey was the basis of his dessert. Since then, honey cake has become a favorite dessert of the imperial family and was present at every royal feast.

In the Yelizovsky District of the Kamchatka Territory there is a unique natural monument - Kutkhiny Baty⛰

These are beige rocks, resembling boats, stuck vertically in the ground. Kutkhiny Baty were formed several thousand years ago by volcanic eruptions.

It is home to foxes, bobcats, snow rams, wolves, and others. Bears are also found in the vicinity. In the waters of the river Ozernaya and in the Kuril
Lake, from which it flows out, are found many species of fish - pink salmon,
chum salmon, and others.

According to the legend, the Kutkhiny Baty are large boats set up for drying
and forgotten by the raven Kutkh. And the native people of Kamchatka, the
Itelmens, called their long boats bats. Hence the name of the sight came
from here.

The rocks are very fragile. If you touch them, they begin to crumble with
small stones. Loud noises also harm these rocks. The acoustics here are
great, and some tourists start singing or shouting, enjoying how clear their
voice sounds. But these actions damage and destroy the Kutkhiny Baty.

В Елизовском районе Камчатского края находится уникальный природный памятник — Кутхины Баты⛰

Это бежевые скалы, напоминающие лодки, воткнутые в землю вертикально. Кутхины Баты образовались несколько тысяч лет назад в результате извержений вулканов.

Здесь обитают лисицы, рыси, снежные бараны, волки и другие. В окрестностях также водятся медведи. В водах реки Озерная и в Курильском озере, из которого она вытекает, водится множество видов рыбы — это горбуша, кета и другие.

По преданиям, Кутхины баты — это большие лодки, установленные для просушки и забыты вороном Кутхом. А ительмены, коренной народ Камчатки, свои длинные лодки называли батами. Отсюда и появилось название достопримечательности.

Скалы очень хрупкие. При прикосновении они начинают осыпаться мелкими камнями. Громкие звуки также вредят этим скалам. Здесь великолепная акустика, и некоторые туристы начинают петь или кричать, наслаждаясь тем, как чисто звучит их голос. Но эти действия вредят Кутхиным батам и разрушают их.
