On 26 April the Russian House in Brussels invites you to a concert by the Ensemble of Contemporary Choral Music ‘Altro coro’ conducted by Alexander Ryzhinsky, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. During these difficult years, the Gnessin School did not stop its work for a single day, graduating more than one hundred specialists in four years. At present, the Russian Academy of Music is the largest music academy in Europe.

The ensemble will perform a programme  specially created for ‘Altro coro’ . The author is Kuzma Bodrov, a leading Russian composer and Head of the Department of Composition at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. His work is well known outside Russia, it is characterised by a sharp view of modernity and deep revelations about good and evil, about life and death. Bodrov’s best known works include Mass for Pope Benedict XVI, music for the Maly Theatre’s production of F. Dostoevsky’s play ‘The Mole’ (starring Sergei Garmash), and one of his most recent works, a concerto for violin and orchestra dedicated to Vadim Repin.

The ensemble of contemporary choral music ‘Altro coro’ is a student ensemble of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, laureate of nine international competitions.

Followed by  a vernissage of the exhibition  “Chnronicler Of a Great Feat : Yevgeny Khaldei” (the TASS collection)

and a cocktail
