World Cosmonautics Day – 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight
A solo exhibition by artist Irina Iakimenko will take place at the Russian House in Brussels.
April 13–24
The exhibition is dedicated to the theme of space — both external and the inner world of a person. In her works, the artist explores images of the universe, combining elements of imagination, personal experiences, and reflections on humanity’s place in the world.
Irina’s childhood unfolded in an atmosphere shaped largely by a generation that lived through the war and the Siege of Leningrad. Her worldview was significantly influenced by the era of space exploration, as well as by her passion for literature — both Soviet and French. These impressions are reflected in her early artistic experiments.
Without formal artistic education, Irina developed her skills independently. After moving to Belgium, she turned to acrylic painting and, through years of practice, developed her own artistic language and technique.
Since 2019, Irina Iakimenko has participated in exhibitions in Belgium. In 2022, she joined the Artists’ Association of Koekelberg and regularly exhibits in cultural spaces in Koekelberg, Jette, and Chimay. She is also a постоян participant in exhibition projects at the Russian House in Brussels.
Her works are held in private collections in Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Spain, and Russia.
The exhibition is open to all visitors:
