Anna Petrova is a middle-aged stage actress whose career and personal life are far from successful. At the theatre, she is given only minor roles, while finding a worthy man seems almost impossible. Her cheerful and energetic friend Musya, who lives next door, supports Anna and brightens her lonely everyday life. Everything changes when Anna is invited to audition for a new television series at Mosfilm, and during a gathering at Musya’s home she meets Vikenty, an intelligent and modest scientist.

Stanislav Govorukhin (1936–2018) was an outstanding Soviet and Russian film director, screenwriter, actor, and public figure whose work became an integral part of Russian cinema.
His films are distinguished by masterful direction, vivid imagery, and memorable performances. Govorukhin was equally convincing in adventure films, dramas, and adaptations of classical literature.
Stanislav Govorukhin’s creative legacy continues to inspire audiences of different generations. His works have become classics of Russian cinema and remain relevant thanks to their profound humanism, attention to the individual, and sincere interest in the history and culture of the country.
