November 1943. The Nazis bring a new group of Soviet orphaned children to Vyritsa, where a so-called “children’s shelter” has been set up in a former pioneer camp. The conditions are unbearable: cold, hunger, forced labor, solitary confinement for disobedience, execution for escape attempts. But the most horrifying fact is that the children are used as blood donors for wounded German soldiers. Despite the unimaginable horror, the young heroes, united, find the strength and courage to resist and attempt an escape.
