Suzdal lies northeast of Moscow and is part of the famous “Golden Ring” of ancient Russian cities. First mentioned in 1024, it has a population of just over nine thousand people. Suzdal is one of Russia’s oldest and most mysterious towns. More than sixty films have been shot here. Locals celebrate the Cucumber Festival, tell legends about hidden treasures, forge world-famous knives and axes, and sail along the Kamenka River on a tiny homemade tram called Kolibri.
