At the center of the story is an unremarkable Muscovite woman, Nadezhda Strakhova. She married Vitalik, who tied the knot only to obtain a Moscow residence permit. The burden of supporting the family falls entirely on Nadezhda. She works two jobs: mornings in a local library and evenings in a theater cloakroom. But one day, her monotonous life changes dramatically when the owner of a coat notices her beautiful hands and unexpectedly opens before her a magical world of cinema and advertising.
