On the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos
On 7 October, the Russian House in Brussels invites you to a concert by the Youth Episcopal Choir of the Brussels and Belgium Diocese, dedicated to the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos.
The Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos is one of the most revered celebrations in the Orthodox Christian world. For centuries, the Mother of God has been regarded as the heavenly patroness and protector of Rus’, and later of Russia. Her protecting veil symbolizes intercession, mercy, hope, and spiritual unity, inspiring people to preserve their faith, peace, and love for their homeland.
The Youth Episcopal Choir of the Brussels and Belgium Diocese was founded in 2020 with the blessing of Archbishop Simon of Brussels and Belgium. The choir brings together young singers from different parishes of the diocese and unites participants from Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Greece, and other countries who now live in Belgium and the Netherlands. The ensemble carefully preserves the traditions of Orthodox liturgical singing while introducing audiences to the richness of Russian musical culture.
The programme features Orthodox sacred choral works dedicated to the Mother of God and the liturgical tradition, alongside beloved Russian folk and popular songs that have become an integral part of Russia’s cultural heritage. This combination of sacred and secular music offers listeners an opportunity to experience both the beauty of Orthodox choral singing and the richness of Russian musical traditions.
The concert offers a unique opportunity to discover centuries-old spiritual traditions, enjoy outstanding choral music, and celebrate the Feast of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos in an atmosphere of warmth, unity, and inspiration.
On the same evening, 7 October at 7:00 p.m., the opening of the exhibition “Inspiration” will take place in the presence of the project’s author, Metropolitan Mark of Ryazan and Mikhailov. The exhibition will be open to visitors from 8 to 31 October.
