On the Occasion of International Music Day
On 2 October, the Russian House in Brussels invites audiences to When Music Tells a Story, a chamber concert celebrating International Music Day. The evening will feature Duo Inspiro, the chamber ensemble of international award-winning musicians Anton Moiseenko (clarinet) and Elena Moiseenko (piano).
International Music Day was established in 1975 by the International Music Council (IMC) under the auspices of UNESCO. One of the initiators of the celebration was the eminent composer Dmitri Shostakovich, who believed that music is a universal language capable of bringing together people of different countries and cultures.
Founded in 2014, Duo Inspiro brings together two musicians who perform extensively in Russia and abroad. Their repertoire spans a broad spectrum of works—from the classical canon to contemporary music, including original compositions by Anton Moiseenko. The ensemble is particularly committed to promoting chamber music and expanding the repertoire for clarinet and piano.
Their programmes are distinguished by carefully crafted artistic concepts, combining celebrated masterpieces with rarely performed works.
Over the years, Duo Inspiro has appeared in major concert halls across Russia and has represented the Russian performing tradition at leading international venues in China, Belgium, Germany and France, including the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, ClarinetFest in Ostend, the Russian House in Berlin, and the S. V. Rachmaninoff Conservatory in Paris.
Anton Moiseenko is a clarinettist, composer and laureate of international competitions, including the The World International Youth Creativity Association (TWIYCA) competition (United Kingdom) and the Beijing International Music Competition (BJIMC) (China). He has performed solo recitals at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London and Carnegie Hall in New York. He currently serves as Principal Clarinet of the Tchaikovsky Grand Symphony Orchestra.
Elena Moiseenko is a pianist and faculty member of the Central Music School – Academy of Performing Arts in Moscow. A graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, she furthered her studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin. She is a prizewinner of international piano competitions in France, Germany and Switzerland.
The programme includes works by Sergei Prokofiev, Charles-Marie Widor, André Messager and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
