On March 10, the Russian House in Brussels invites you to a meeting within the framework of the “Hermitage Evenings” project. Guests will continue their exploration of the collection of the State Hermitage Museum, presented in the General Staff Building — the former complex of imperial ministries.
Event languages: Russian / French.
The halls of the General Staff Building host an exhibition dedicated to 19th-century Russian jewelry art. The Sazikovs, Khlebnikovs, Ovchinnikov and other masters of the Russian Empire revived ancient techniques, drew inspiration from pre-Petrine Rus’, and created works that became a source of national pride.
From the second half of the 19th century, the chief jeweler of the Imperial Court was Carl Fabergé, whose name became synonymous with supreme craftsmanship and impeccable style, influencing not only Russian but also European jewelers.
Participants will see works by renowned Russian masters — gifts for the Imperial family, exquisite tableware, decorative objects, and miniature sculptures. Among the highlights of the jewelry collection are precious egg-shaped clocks created for the Rothschild family, as well as a miniature copy of the Russian imperial regalia made by the House of Fabergé.
The exhibition will be presented by Viktoria Petrova,
a staff member of the Educational Department of the State Hermitage Museum.
