13 October
The Russian House in Brussels invites you to a special evening where music becomes a journey through the seasons, historical eras and the depths of human emotion.
In an intimate chamber setting, works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Schubert, Mikhail Glinka, Rodion Shchedrin, Sebastián de Yradier and other composers will be performed.
The programme opens with music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky — six pieces from his celebrated piano cycle The Seasons. The cosy atmosphere of January by the fireside, the festive spirit of February’s Maslenitsa, the contemplative Barcarolle of June, the melancholy of autumn, and the exhilarating November ride of On the Troika create a rich tapestry of musical images in which nature seems to mirror the inner world of the human soul.
A special place in the programme is given to works for domra and piano. Darya Bogdanova and Yury Bogdanov will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Oriental Romance in an arrangement by Galina Barinova, as well as Sebastián de Yradier’s famous La Paloma, arranged by Alexander Tsygankov.
The piano programme continues with works by Yury Bogdanov and Rodion Shchedrin, followed by a selection of vocal works: Franz Schubert’s deeply moving Ave Maria, Sergei Rachmaninoff’s tender Lilacs, and Mikhail Glinka’s virtuosic The Traveller’s Song.
The concert concludes with music by Frédéric Chopin — two lyrical mazurkas and the celebrated Scherzo No. 2. These works combine drama, poetry, and vivid emotional expression, leaving the audience with a sense of having embarked on a truly memorable musical journey.
