185th Anniversary of Russian Composer P.I. Tchaikovsky

The Museum of Music will present the legacy of one of Russia’s most prominent composers, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, at the Russian House in Brussels from June 6 to September 30, 2025.

Vernissage on June 6 before the concert of the “Silk Road” Orchestra featuring the program “The Music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky”

The exhibition “Tchaikovsky. The Happiness of Being an Artist” explores the composer from a perspective he considered especially meaningful—serving his country and society through his talent.

The exhibition covers approximately 30 years of Tchaikovsky’s life, from his first steps in professional music education to his final concert, which featured the premiere of his Sixth Symphony (Pathétique). Ten sections reflect the main milestones of his life and the creative priorities at each stage. Visitors will learn about well-known episodes related to the creation of the operas Eugene Onegin and The Queen of Spades, the ballets Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, the First Piano Concerto, and the Seasons cycle—as well as lesser-known moments.

For the first time, special attention will be given to the preparation and performance of Tchaikovsky’s first author’s concert in Moscow in March 1871, a significant event in his creative biography.

The exhibits include materials from the Museum of Music’s collections: autograph manuscripts, letters, lifetime editions of his works, photographs of the composer and key figures in his life, documents, and concert programs.

Visitors will be able to listen to archival recordings of Tchaikovsky’s famous works via QR codes.

At the opening, Mikhail Bryzgalov, General Director of the Museum of Music, will speak about the life and work of the composer.
