On March 20, 2025, the Russian House in Brussels invites you to a lecture on women in gastronomy, as wellas a delicious and informative event – a culinary master class “Spring Okroshka”.
Cold soups are available in many cuisines around the world. Russia gave the world the famous “okroshka”. Itwas prepared in Russia dating back to as early as the 13th century. Over time, the recipe for this light buthearty dish has changed depending on the ingenuity and wealth of the Russian people, the geographical features and natural conditions of the country.
We will prepare a traditional soup base and try several types of okroshka: lean and with two meat fillings (boiled sausage and veal tongue). As the basis of the soup, we will present 4 options: classic Russian kvass, kefir, potato broth with mineral water and fermented juice – cider, seasoned with Russian mustard, horseradishand sour cream.
The master class and tasting will be conducted by professional gastronomist Tatiana Koteris.
At the same time, we will have an interesting discussion about the role of women in cooking. The “guru” ofgastrodiplomacy, Leonid Vladimirovich Gelibterman, will talk about female muses and their participation in the creation of legendary dishes, about famous chefs and restaurateurs, and will also share a chronicle of the cooking of the beautiful half of humanity.
