Dear readers, lovers of history and literature. At the next event dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Victory, we will discuss the work of the writer and front-line soldier Boris Vasilyev, “And the Dawn Is Here Quiet.”

Boris Vasilyev was born on May 21, 1924, in Smolensk, into a family of a career officer and a noblewoman.
In 1941, he managed to finish 9 grades before the Great Patriotic War began. At the age of 17, he volunteered to join the front.
In 1969, he published the story “And the Dawn Is Here Quiet…” in the “Yunost” magazine. The story became widely known, was adapted into a movie, and also turned into a stage play.
B. Vasilyev was one of the first to write about women in the war.
The story is based on real events.
