“Why uncover the secrets of the complex, if the inexplicably simple exists?” G.Gorin
Dear friends, March 12th of this year would mark the 85th birthday of the beloved worldwide writer, screenwriter, and satirist Grigory Gorin. Films based on his scripts, such as Formula of Love, The Very Same Münchhausen, and Say a Word for the Poor Hussar (in collaboration with E. Ryazanov) have not only won the hearts of millions of viewers but have also become quotable. Older generations recall his appearances on the TV show Around Laughter.
In 1984, Gorin adapted A. Tolstoy’s novella The Count of Cagliostro into the screenplay Formula of Love. I invite you to read both works and compare them. Using Formula of Love as an example, we will examine the screenplay as one form of literary creativity.
