Dear friends!
We invite you to a session of the Literary Salon dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of Yevgeny Schwartz, the Russian Soviet prose writer, screenwriter, playwright, journalist, and poet.
We remember The Tale of Lost Time, The First-Grader, and The Two Brothers from childhood. Schwartz’s works subtly teach us the value of time, responsibility, and an eternal truth: the greatest miracles are those we create ourselves.
The focus of our meeting will be An Ordinary Miracle — the author’s final play, written in 1954. This extraordinarily touching and wise story has remained a fixture on theatre stages and has been adapted for the screen twice, in 1964 and 1978.
At the meeting, we will:
- Trace Yevgeny Schwartz’s life and creative journey;
- Explore the meanings and subtexts of An Ordinary Miracle;
- Talk about the power of love, the meaning of life, and the place of the writer in Russian and world cultural heritage.
Language of the event: Russian.
Age: 12+
