Dear friends,
On September 27, the Russian House will host the “Literary Dictation.”
When someone hears the word “dictation,” the image of a strict teacher walking between the rows and reading a very complicated text comes to mind. You have to write it down, and not just that, but also place the commas correctly.
“Oh no, I don’t even remember the last time I held a pen! And I doubt I’ll remember the rules!” — these are the common excuses we hear when we invite people to take part in the dictation.

Dear friends, we want to reassure you! The “Literary Dictation” is a test with 20 questions of varying difficulty: multiple-choice and open-ended questions. You won’t have to write anything under dictation!

Example: This character is a hereditary nobleman. In his youth, he studied law and judicial matters, but in practice, he is unable to write even a simple police report. He used to be a government official, but after a minor incident, he retired. He has been living without leaving St. Petersburg on Gorokhovaya Street for 12 years. Who is he?
A) Oblomov; B) Manilov; C) Chatsky

The theme of our Literary Salon is preparation for the “Literary Dictation.” In a relaxed atmosphere and among pleasant people, we will review questions from previous years, introduce new ones, and discuss poetic forms and genres.
