On May 20, 2025, as part of the “Hermitage Evenings” project, the virtual platform of the Russian House in Brussels hosted the exclusive premiere of the video tour of the new exhibition by the State Hermitage Museum — “Boxed Dreams. Art Deco Fashion from the Collection of the State Hermitage Museum and Nazim Mustafayev”.

The video tour received the highest number of enthusiastic reviews among online events and is now available for public viewing.

Guests of the evening were the first to see exquisite creations by renowned European couturiers such as Paul Poiret, Jeanne Lanvin, Mariano Fortuny, Edward Molyneux, and Lucien Lelong. The shoe collection showcases masterpieces by Pietro Yantorny, André Perugia, Israel Miller, Salvatore Ferragamo, as well as from legendary houses such as Hellstern & Sons, Netch et Frater, Francois Pinet, Saks Fifth Avenue, and others.

Exactly 100 years ago, on April 28, 1925, the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts (Exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes) opened in Paris, marking the birth of the Art Deco style. To celebrate the centennial, the State Hermitage Museum presents an exhibition dedicated to European and American fashion of the 1920s and early 1930s — one of the most striking expressions of the Art Deco movement.

The video tour includes commentary by exhibition curator Nina Ivanovna Tarasova, Head of the Applied Arts Sector of the Department of Russian Culture History at the Hermitage; collector Nazim Sultanovich Mustafayev; and project coordinator Svetlana Anatolyevna Datsenko, Advisor to the General Director of the Hermitage.

Following the screening, curator Nina Ivanovna Tarasova answered questions from the audience.

The next event in the series — “Journey through the Grand Hermitage” — will take place on August 26 at 18:00 CET.

The tour will be conducted by Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the State Hermitage Museum — a distinguished scholar, expert in art history, and guardian of the traditions of one of the world’s greatest museums.
