Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War

6+

On May 5, the Russian House in Brussels invites you to a classical music concert titled “Music of Memory”, dedicated to the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

This evening is a tribute not only to the heroism of the people, but also to the spiritual resilience of individuals during times of immense hardship. During the Great Patriotic War, music never fell silent: it was heard in besieged cities, hospitals, on the front lines, and in evacuation. Works by great composers—Mozart, Chopin, Brahms—were performed in the most difficult moments, supporting people and reminding them of beauty, dignity, and the meaning of life even amid destruction and loss.

The concert “Music of Memory” continues this tradition. The program features compositions from different eras and styles, united by emotional depth and inner strength. Music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frédéric Chopin, Johannes Brahms, Enrique Granados, Alexander Scriabin, and Sergei Prokofiev will be performed as a reflection on humanity, time, and memory—on what endures and is passed down through generations.

A special place in the program is given to the music of Sergei Prokofiev, whose творчество is inseparably linked with the wartime era. His works became an artistic response to the tragedy and heroism of the time, embodying tension, struggle, and faith in victory.

The concert will feature young performers from Russia and Italy—laureates of international competitions who have already made their mark on the professional stage:

Agniya Vyatkina (violin) — concertmaster of the All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra, first violin of the State Orchestra “Novaya Rossiya”.

Anastasia Magamedova (piano) is a graduate of the Juilliard School (New York), a student of Gabriela Montero, and is currently enrolled in the Artist Diploma program at the Paris Conservatory.

Anatoly Bogdanov (piano) is a student at the Gnessin College of Music (class of Y. A. Bogdanov), Grand Prix winner of international competitions and laureate of the 2nd prize at the Sibelius Competition.

Vladimir Bondar (piano, accordion) — laureate of international and national competitions.

Polina Yeremkina (piano) — participant in international concert projects in Russia and Italy.

Gabriele Gioima (piano, Italy) — laureate of international competitions, actively performing across Europe.

The performance of young musicians gives this concert a special meaning: the memory of the past continues to live in a new generation, for whom music becomes a language of historical and human continuity.
