On the 260th Anniversary of the Hermitage (Saint Petersburg)

On November 28, the Russian House of Brussels invites you to a special evening: a musical journey to the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg, led by Maestro Andrei Chevtchouk.

In 2024, the Hermitage, one of the world’s greatest museums, celebrates its 260th anniversary. This museum houses unique artistic and cultural treasures created by peoples across the world over millennia. The Hermitage’s exhibitions span more than four hundred rooms, located in the Winter Palace, the Small, Old, and New Hermitages, as well as in the theatre’s foyer. The museum’s architectural ensemble, developed from the mid-18th to mid-19th centuries, creates a unique cultural space.

Founded in 1764, the Hermitage is the largest museum in the world by the number of displayed artefacts and is among the top three art museums globally, alongside the Louvre and the National Museum of China. Its collections encompass every era of world history, including ancient artefacts and artworks from various centuries.

A musical tour, prepared by Maestro Andrei Chevtchouk, will immerse you in the cultural and musical context of different epochs, showing how art unites humanity through music and history.

Andrei Chevtchouk, a conductor and choir director, grew up near the Hermitage and studied at the Saint Petersburg Chapel, Russia’s oldest musical institution. This evening, Maestro will share with you his passion for the Hermitage and its cultural heritage.

Join us for an evening where music and art intertwine in an atmosphere of emotion, inspiration, and new discoveries!
