On October 31,
the Russian House in Brussels in collaboration with the association ‘Les Amis de Léon Tolstoï’ in Paris,
invites you to the opening of the exhibition
‘Landscapes of Yasnaya Polyana in the world of Leo Tolstoy’
By Sonia Tolstoï and Anne Lefol
with the participation of members of the Tolstoy family living in Belgium and France
followed by the classical music concert «Inspiration of young talents».
This exhibition features the works of French artists Sonia Tolstoy and Anne Lefol, who visited Yasnaya Polyana in 2018, a place of great significance for the family of the famous writer Leo Tolstoy. Walking along the same paths once taken by their ancestor, the artists were inspired to create a series of paintings dedicated to the landscapes that surrounded Tolstoy in his childhood. This trip and the family reunion in Yasnaya Polyana became the starting point for their artistic memories.
The Association “Friends of Leo Tolstoy” was founded in 1977 by the writer’s grandson, Dr. Serge Tolstoy, in honor of the 150th anniversary of his birth. After Serge Tolstoy’s death in 1996, his wife, Countess Tolstoy, became the chair of the association. A few years later, their son, Dmitri Tolstoy, became the president of the association.
The Exhibition will be opened with the participation of members of TolstoÏ family living in Belgium and in France
That evening, talented young musicians, winners of international competitions, will perform for the guests of the Expo Opening:
