The halls of the General Staff Building host an exhibition dedicated to 19th-century Russian jewelry art. The Sazikovs, Khlebnikovs, Ovchinnikov and other masters of the Russian Empire revived ancient techniques, drew inspiration from pre-Petrine Rus’, and created works that became a source of national pride.
From the second half of the 19th century, the chief jeweler of the Imperial Court was Carl Fabergé, whose name became synonymous with supreme craftsmanship and impeccable style, influencing not only Russian but also European jewelers.
