You will meet again with Vladislav Statkevich, who will talk about large-format still lifes and animalistic works by Frans Snyders, Abraham Brueghel, Abraham van Diepenbeeck, and Peter Boel. You will learn how and why such grandiose works were created and what they reveal about the Flemish “art of living.”
Afterwards, guests will have an exclusive chance to “visit” the restoration laboratory of the State Hermitage Museum and hear first-hand how the preparation of these enormous paintings for the exhibition was carried out. Specialists in the restoration of easel painting will share the details.
As last time, Mikhail Dedinkin, Head of the Department of Western European Fine Arts of the Hermitage and curator of the exhibition, will join online to answer all questions from the audience.
