From 8 to 31 October, the Russian House in Brussels presents the photo exhibition “Inspiration” by Metropolitan Mark of Ryazan and Mikhailov.

The exhibition will open with a VERNISSAGE on 7 October at 19:00, attended by the author of the project.

This project is far more than a collection of 42 photographs. It is the journey of a pilgrim with a camera, a meditation on the meeting of the earthly and the eternal, and an invitation to see familiar places with renewed vision.

Through Metropolitan Mark’s lens, seven Christian cities of Europe and Russia—Rome, Paris, Venice, Vienna, Budapest, Bruges, and Ryazan—appear not merely as outstanding monuments of architecture, but above all as living witnesses to centuries of spiritual history. In stone, light, and shadow unfolds a beauty that has inspired architects, artists, and thinkers for generations, shaping Europe’s cultural identity.

A special place within this visual narrative belongs to Bruges, one of Belgium’s foremost spiritual and artistic symbols. Its medieval streets, churches, and canals become part of a shared journey that connects European cities through their Christian heritage and artistic traditions.

Presenting the exhibition in Brussels—the capital of Europe and a city where people of many cultures, languages, and traditions meet every day—gives the project a particular significance. Here the exhibition becomes a space for cultural dialogue, reminding visitors of the values that have united European peoples for centuries. Through the art of photography, it invites viewers to reflect on the relationship between faith, culture, and inspiration, revealing beauty as a universal language understood by all.

As the author himself observes:

“The art of seeing is the art of faith. The captured images remind us that inspiration is not created by human beings; rather, it reveals itself through them, just as an image gradually appears on photographic material briefly illuminated by light.”

The exhibition “Inspiration” invites visitors to embark on a journey through cities where history, faith, and art are inseparably intertwined, and to discover how light—the photographer’s essential medium—becomes a symbol of spiritual search, beauty, and hope.

The exhibition is presented within the framework of the International Arts Festival “Into the Cosmos of the Russian Soul”, held in Russia and abroad in the spring of 2026.
