Anna Volkova’s art is a tribute to the Old Masters and to the lengthy process of creating a perfect form. Her works combine artistic virtuosity, profound knowledge of materials, and sophisticated engineering solutions.
For many years, the artist has explored the possibilities of porcelain, developing her own formulas and techniques. Each flower is handcrafted from her proprietary porcelain body and fired at high temperatures. The unglazed matte surface preserves the impression of a living natural form, while every piece exists as a unique work.
Anna Volkova’s porcelain flowers stand at the intersection of decorative art and sculpture. Free from literal representation, they become a universal image of nature’s beauty and perfection. The artist transforms a traditional material into a poetic object of contemplation, where craftsmanship and form become the primary means of artistic expression.
Engineering plays a central role in her practice. Each composition is a complex structure designed for long-term display. The creation of a single bouquet takes from one to three months.
Anna works without assistants in order to preserve the uniqueness of her artistic techniques. Her studio produces no more than twelve bouquets per year, making each work exceptionally rare.
Anna gained international recognition through her collaboration with one of Europe’s oldest galleries specializing in decorative arts, particularly seventeenth-century Delft ceramics. During the past three years, her works have been presented at the Venice Biennale, the Delft Museum, the Fabergé Museum, Art Basel, Maison & Objet in Paris, as well as leading international fairs including TEFAF Maastricht and The Winter Show in New York.
At both fairs, her floral sculptures received the “Highlight of the Show” award and a distinction for Best Sculptural Composition presented at the exhibition.
Her works are held in museum collections, including the Fine Arts Museum Houston (USA), Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (Germany), Princessehof Museum (Netherlands), and the Fabergé Museum (Germany), as well as in private collections worldwide.
