185th Anniversary of the Birth of the Great Russian Composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

On September 16, 2025, the Russian House in Brussels invites music lovers to the solemn opening of the 2025–2026 season, held in a special format — an evening dedicated to the 185th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The evening will feature two outstanding piano works by the composer, performed by Timur Sergeyenia, professor at the LUCA School of Arts, known for his subtle interpretations and profound immersion in the musical texture of the pieces.

The concert program is titled “Tchaikovsky: Reflection in Sound”, which reflects both the spiritual depth and the philosophical and lyrical essence of the selected compositions.

Program:

“Meditation”, Op. 72

This chamber and poetic piece fully lives up to its name. It evokes a contemplative, almost meditative mood, with music that paints natural landscapes, calm waters, and subtle associations with introspection and inner solitude. Its climax soars heavenward, then gently descends back into a state of peaceful reflection.

Grand Sonata in G Major, Op. 37

One of Tchaikovsky’s most expansive piano compositions — the first Russian sonata of such scale and artistic strength. Created in the Romantic tradition, especially influenced by Robert Schumann, it showcases Tchaikovsky’s unique piano style. Despite its brilliance, the sonata remains a rarity in concert programs, making this performance especially significant.

We invite all admirers of great Russian music to this unique evening that will open the musical season, blending lyricism, the power of Romanticism, and profound reflection on the human soul through Tchaikovsky’s music.

After the concert, the closing event of the exhibition of compatriots “Summer Kaleidoscope – 2025. Holidays in Russia” will take place – a bright finale of the art project, where fantasy, inspiration, and the talent of our artists are gathered in a festive atmosphere.
Don’t miss the chance to experience the beauty and harmony of art!
