The panel exhibition is dedicated to the works of Léon Bakst (1866–1924), a native of Grodno (now part of the Republic of Belarus) and one of the leading masters of Russian Art Nouveau. Art lovers in Western Europe have been familiar with his work since the “Russian Seasons,” organized by Sergei Diaghilev in the early 20th century. The exhibition presents paintings and graphic works by Léon Bakst from the collection of the Russian Museum, including the painting “Ancient Terror,” inspired by the artist’s journey through Greece.
The exhibition design emphasizes the artistic expressiveness of artwork fragments, juxtaposed with reproductions of various formats. All images are accompanied by QR codes linking to annotations with explanatory information about the pieces.
The panel exhibition, organized by the Russian House in Brussels, aims to promote Russian cultural heritage and the extensive collection of the State Russian Museum, which holds the largest collection of national fine art in Russia and beyond.
