The Russian House in Brussels, in cooperation with the Victory Museum, presents the electronic exhibition “The Second Front”, dedicated to the opening of the Second Front in Europe by Allied forces on June 6, 1944.

Nearly two hundred rare exhibits — including unique documents, photographs from Russian and foreign archives, and personal belongings of participants in those events — reconstruct the events of June 6, 1944, the day when British and American troops landed in Normandy. “D-Day,” or Operation Overlord, was one of the most famous and largest offensive operations of the Second World War.

This exhibition is more than just a detailed account of the Normandy landings. The exhibits on display make it possible to trace the entire chronology of events leading up to the opening of the Second Front — from the efforts of diplomats who spent several years unsuccessfully seeking the support of the Western Allies, to the historic meeting of Soviet and American troops on the Elbe River in April 1945.

Visitors can also view photographs of weapons and military uniforms used by Allied forces from the collections of the Victory Museum.
