The Cinema Club of the Russian House in Brussels has launched a series of screenings dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Viewers were presented with the series “About People and About War” by Artel Films — a collection of short stories about the lives of young people who endured the hardships of 1941–1945. Based on real eyewitness accounts, these stories capture the tragic, heroic, and sometimes ironic moments of wartime, reminding us of the noble human qualities that helped defeat evil.
The project’s films have been internationally recognized: the series has won 70 awards, including 32 international prizes, such as those from the Berlin Web Series Festival, London Web Fest, Rio Web Fest, and BUEIFF Series. In 2024, it was named Best Web/TV Series at the Cannes Film Festival. The episode “The Bathhouse” received special acclaim, earning the Platinum Award at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles. This success highlights the universal themes of the series: bravery, love, compassion, and strength of spirit.
The screening of Part I received a warm response from the audience, thanks to the sincerity and deep humanity of each story. The Russian House in Brussels invites you to the next screenings: Part II will be shown on May 6, 2025, at 7:00 PM, and the final Part III on May 22, 2025, at 7:00 PM. Registration is free. Join us to honor the people whose dreams, love, and faith in goodness helped bring Victory closer.
