On December 12, the Russian House in Brussels hosted an evening that combined classical music and visual arts, leaving unforgettable impressions on the audience. The final highlight of the event was a musical program performed by the soloists of the State Academic Capella Orchestra of St. Petersburg — Ilya Chirskov (piano) and Evgenia Klevtsova (violin). The event was not only a celebration of music but also the grand closing of the exhibition “Landscapes of Yasnaya Polyana in the World of Leo Tolstoy.”
The audience was particularly captivated by the unique musical pieces. As a special gift, Ilya Chirskov performed a waltz composed by Leo Tolstoy and another by Alexander Griboyedov, marking the origins of the Russian waltz tradition. These pieces not only bridged eras but also astonished the audience with their elegance. The virtuosity of the musicians and their soulful interpretation of works by Bach, Chopin, Glinka, and Rachmaninoff were met with thunderous applause. Each composition transported listeners into a world of inspiration and harmony.
In addition to the musical program, guests enjoyed the paintings presented at the exhibition. The works of Sonia Tolstoy, the great-granddaughter of the famous writer, and French artist Anne Lefol transported the audience to the serene landscapes of Yasnaya Polyana, captured through the lens of contemporary art.
The evening concluded with a cocktail reception, where guests had the opportunity to engage with the artists, discuss their works, and share their impressions. This fusion of music and art once again proved that Russia’s cultural heritage continues to inspire people worldwide.
The Russian House in Brussels reaffirmed its role in promoting Russian culture abroad, gifting all attendees an evening filled with love for art, traditions, and harmony.
