On October 2, the Russian House in Brussels hosted a masterclass by Yuri Molodkovets, photographer of the State Hermitage Museum, and Ksenia Lugovskaya, coordinator of digital and audiovisual projects.
The event was opened by Vera Bunina, Director of the Russian House, who emphasized the importance of cultural initiatives that allow us to look at the museum space from a new perspective.
Guests received unique advice from a world-class professional. Yuri Molodkovets demonstrated how light and angle can turn an ordinary photo into a work of art. Using his projects “Sun in the Museum”, “Night Hermitage” and others, he presented rare images of the Hermitage: bathed in sunlight during the day and filled with a special atmosphere at night. Participants discovered how the interplay of light and shadow changes the perception of sculpture and painting, revealing them in an unexpected way.
Equally impressive was the presentation by Ksenia Lugovskaya, author of documentaries, online tours and inspiring video projects. She explained how modern digital formats help bring museum spaces to life and make them closer to every visitor.
The masterclass became not only a practical lesson in mobile photography but also an invitation to see the museum anew — as a source of inspiration and a place for creative experimentation.
The event was held as part of the “Hermitage Days in Brussels”. The Russian House invites guests to visit the unique photo exhibition by Yuri Molodkovets “Hermitage. Solitude”, on view until November 4.
On October 21, the series of online meetings will continue with a virtual tour of the exhibition “ARS VIVENDI. Frans Snyders and Flemish Still Life of the 17th Century” in Russian and French.
