On September 16, the Russian House in Brussels hosted a solemn ceremony of awarding the medals “For Love and Fidelity.” The event took place as part of the celebration of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, which is traditionally observed in Russia on July 8.
The holiday is dedicated to the memory of the Murom saints, Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia, patrons of marriage and family happiness. Their union, filled with care and devotion, became an example of conjugal fidelity and inspired the creation of this day. The symbol of the holiday is the daisy — a flower of purity, sincerity, and devotion, depicted on the medal.
This year, the high award was presented to a married couple who have lived together for more than half a century. Preserving love, mutual respect, and loyalty, the spouses raised worthy children and passed on to them the love of the Russian language, culture, and traditions. Their story has become a living example of resilience and true family happiness.
The medals were presented by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr. D.V. Gonchar, together with the Director of the Russian House in Brussels, Vera Bunina.
In his address, the Ambassador emphasized that such stories are “a true treasure that inspires the younger generation,” wishing the couple “good health, warmth of heart, and many more years together,” and encouraging everyone present “to cherish their families, value their loved ones, and build relationships based on respect, trust, and love.”
In turn, the awarded couple addressed the audience with words of guidance, wishing each person to find and preserve harmony, mutual understanding, and care for their partner.
