On April 26, the Russian House in Brussels hosted the solemn opening of the TASS photo exhibition “Chronicler of a Great Feat: Yevgeny Khaldei.” The exhibition features archival photographs by the legendary war photojournalist Yevgeny Khaldei, who captured key moments of the Great Patriotic War. The photos are arranged in chronological order, allowing viewers to trace the course of the war—from its first days to its victorious conclusion.

TASS Director General Andrey Kondrashov addressed the ceremony participants via a video message: “The entire world remembers the Great Patriotic War largely through the photographs and reports of TASS. They became documentary evidence of the era and symbols of Victory. Our journalists worked both on the frontlines and in the rear, fought alongside partisans, participated in naval campaigns, and marched with the Red Army all the way to the Reichstag. This project is a tribute to all war correspondents and all Soviet soldiers who brought Victory closer.”

Kondrashov emphasized that Yevgeny Khaldei is the only Soviet war correspondent whose archive covers all major events of the war: “The exhibition opens with a photo from June 22, 1941, showing Muscovites listening to the announcement of Nazi Germany’s attack on the USSR, and ends with images from the Nuremberg Trials.”

The exhibition presents 53 works that depict key episodes of the war—from the tragic morning of June 22, 1941, to the triumphant end in May 1945 and the subsequent events in Nuremberg.

After the opening of the photo exhibition, the Gnessin Contemporary Choral Ensemble “Altro coro,” conducted by Alexander Ryzhinsky, presented their new program “Symphony of Victory,” dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
