“Sounds of Maslenitsa” at the Russian House in Brussels: Music, Traditions, and Pleasant Surprises
On February 27, the Russian House in Brussels hosted a bright and memorable concert, “Sounds of Maslenitsa,” dedicated to one of the most beloved Slavic holidays. Guests of the event not only enjoyed live music but also had the chance to connect with ancient traditions and experience the joyful atmosphere of a true celebration filled with warmth, delicious treats, and delightful surprises.
A Musical Journey Through the Centuries:
The concert program featured a combination of classical, Russian, and Belarusian folk music. A unique ensemble of cimbalom and piano created a fascinating sound that filled the hall with the warmth and energy of live music.
The stage was graced by outstanding musicians:
Aleksandra Dzenisenia (cimbalom) – an award-winning musician, laureate of international competitions, and professor at the Strasbourg Conservatory. Her performance included both classical compositions and virtuoso interpretations of folk music, leaving the audience in awe.

Diana Kokaeva (piano) – a talented pianist, graduate of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Her deeply expressive playing added depth and emotion to the program.
The audience enthusiastically welcomed each performance, as the program was carefully crafted to create a complete immersion in musical tradition.
After the concert, guests were treated to another delightful surprise—traditional Maslenitsa pancakes with various fillings, lovingly prepared by fellow compatriots. This symbol of the sun and spring was a perfect way to conclude the evening, bringing everyone together around the festive table. The atmosphere of joy, friendly conversations, and unity filled the Russian House, making each guest feel part of a big and warm family.
A special highlight of the event was a lottery, organized by compatriots and the Russian House in Brussels. Guests eagerly awaited the results, and the lucky winners received books as gifts from the organizers. These books will not only serve as a pleasant memory of the evening but also as a source of new knowledge and inspiration.
The “Sounds of Maslenitsa” concert was a true gift for all who love music, cherish traditions, and wish to connect with Russian culture. The Russian House in Brussels expresses its gratitude to the artists, guests, and everyone who helped make this evening truly unforgettable!
See you at the next events of the Russian House!
