On November 22, the Russian House in Brussels hosted the concert “East-West: A Musical Journey”, which became a true celebration of art and cultural dialogue. The highlight of the evening was the international string ensemble Silk Road (Belgium). This unique musical group, founded just a few months ago, brought together 20 young talents from different countries around the world.
Under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor Wenqing Dan and managing director Bertrand Lavrenov, the ensemble amazed the audience with its seamless performance, like a single organism finely attuned to every musical phrase. Each member contributed to the overall harmony, embodying the project’s main mission: building cultural bridges between countries and continents.
The concert program took listeners on an enthralling musical journey, encompassing the riches of both East and West. The sounds produced by the ensemble’s bows created a stunning palette of emotions and inspirations, reflecting the symbolism of the ensemble’s name. Silk Road is not only a historical trade route but also a metaphor for collaboration and exchange that lies at the heart of this ensemble.
A special highlight of the evening was the visual component: works by Nikolai Konstantinovich Roerich, a great artist whose creations blend elements of East and West. The concert was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of his birth.
The event also paid heartfelt tribute to Serge Delvenne, president of the Belgian association “European and World Brotherhood.” His contribution to strengthening Belgian-Russian relations underscored the importance of cultural exchange and friendship between nations.
This musical evening was a true testament to the unifying power of art, leaving the audience with a sense of wonder and gratitude for this unique experience.
