On November 11, 2025, the staff of the Russian House in Brussels took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ixelles Cemetery in honor of Armistice Day, a date commemorated across Europe to mark the end of World War I and to honor the memory of those who fell.

This annual ceremony is a symbol of gratitude and respect for those who gave their lives in the struggle for freedom and peace in Europe.

At Ixelles Cemetery, Russian and Soviet soldiers and officers are buried — they fell in Belgium during the First and Second World Wars, defending the freedom of European nations.

The ceremony, organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Belgium, was attended by descendants of White émigrés, representatives of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots’ Organizations, members of the Immortal Regiment movement, representatives of the Brussels-Belgian Archdiocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, members of the choir and the Youth Archdiocesan Choir of the Brussels-Belgian Diocese, as well as other Belgians and compatriots.

Such events are important reminders of the heroism of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of peace and freedom of nations.
