Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev is a renowned Russian poet, writer, playwright, publicist, and translator. He is one of the classics of Russian literature who made a significant contribution to its development. Turgenev spent nearly a third of his life in Europe. Thanks to his connections, language skills, and diligence, he was one of the most engaged Russian writers in the global literary process of his time. The author’s body of work includes six novels and a large number of poems, plays, articles, and short stories. Turgenev was a realist writer, a master of subtle psychological analysis and vivid landscape painting, and he had a significant influence on the development of Russian literature and society. Many of his works have been adapted for the screen.
