100 Years of Mosfilm
In 2024, the film studio Mosfilm celebrated its 100th anniversary since its founding. Mosfilm is part of Russia’s national heritage, its journey inseparable from the country’s history. Across hundreds of kilometers of film, it encapsulates the dreams and disappointments of a great era, the feats of its people, and the destiny of individuals.
The foundation of Mosfilm traces back to the First and Third film factories of Goskino, established in 1919. Over the initial years, the studio underwent multiple reorganizations and renamings until January 1936, when it acquired the name “Mosfilm Studio”.
Nearly 2000 feature films have been created here, shaping the cinematic tastes of generations. Over the years, the studio has hosted remarkable directors, whose works are enshrined in the Golden Fund of Russian and world cinema.
Today, the Mosfilm Film Concern stands as a leading enterprise in Russia’s film industry, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and uniting the best creative and production cinematic forces. The production base of the Mosfilm Film Concern produces the majority of contemporary Russian film productions.
