On April 1, 2023, the concert hall of the Russian House in Brussels hosted a concert performed by Timur Sergeeni, professor of special piano at LUCA School of arts, Leuven, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninov, a Russian composer, pianist, conductor, who became a symbol of Russian music all over the world.

Rachmaninoff’s music is like a mirror of the Russian soul. The composer, like no one else, felt the pulse of time, reflecting it in the rhythms of his works.

Timur Sergieni’s acting was notable for its careful finishing of details, philosophical depth and exceptional self-control. The pianist impressed me with the incredible elemental power of sound, virtuoso playing and ultimate immersion in the material of Rachmaninoff’s compositions.

“Today is a big holiday – the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Rachmaninov. This is a huge date and a holiday for all musicians in the world. I think that the whole year will be held under this sign,” said Timur Sergeenya, professor of special piano at LUCA School of arts, Leuven.
