Applications for the Crystal Compass national award have started to be accepted. In 2024, statuettes made of crystal and silver will be awarded to the authors of outstanding achievements and unique projects in the field of science and culture, expeditionary and educational activities, preservation and popularization of natural and historical-cultural heritage for the 12th time.
Everyone is invited to participate in the application campaign: scientific and educational institutions, creative unions, domestic and foreign organizations, enterprises of various spheres, as well as independent initiative groups, public figures and individuals. Applications will be accepted until February 10, 2024.
– This is the 12th time the Prize is collecting applications. We are waiting for projects from all over the world, which will be significant and relevant for many years to come, will be guidelines for those who are just preparing for achievements in expeditionary, scientific, educational and public activities! It is very important that they will contribute to the education of national pride and patriotism of the younger generation, – said the First Vice-President of the Russian Geographical Society, legendary polar explorer, Hero of the Soviet Union, Hero of Russia Artur Chilingarov.
After the application campaign is over, all the received projects will be considered by the members of the Award’s Expert Council at the qualifying selection. The jury consists of respected scientists, well-known government and public figures, business and media representatives. They will determine the winners in 11 nominations. The National Award is held under the auspices of the Russian Geographical Society with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. The partner of the award in 2023 is OTECO, the style partner is Indever. For 11 years the authoritative jury has evaluated 3720 projects and achievements from 45 countries of the world. More than 2.5 million people expressed their preferences in the special nomination “Recognition of the Public”, where the winners are determined by online voting. Among the award winners and owners of the coveted crystal statuette from previous years are Fedor Konyukhov and Frederik Paulsen, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Institute of Glaciology and Ecogeography, Lanzhou University and the Swiss Polar Institute, PJSC “KamAZ” and the National Geographic Society, as well as many others.
